My name is David and I am an enthusiastic, approachable University student offering tutoring services in 2017. I love being a tutor and being able to help students realise their true potential. I’m a first year bachelor of commerce student at the University of Melbourne and I completed year 12 last year at Melbourne High School with an ATAR of 97.05. I tutored a year 12 student in maths methods over this year, as well as younger student, with (so far) results we’ve both been pleased with. I’m willing to tutor primary and high school maths up to year 10 and maths methods units 1-4.

I regularly tutored a year 12 student in mathematical methods over 2016. Prior to the tutoring they struggled with some of the topics that had been covered in the year 11 course. As we worked through these areas their understanding improved quite a lot. As a result they were much more confident with assessment tasks and the exam than I expect they would otherwise have been.
I also tutored a year 10 student from time to time over the course of 2016 in maths. This mainly involved working through topics that they didn’t completely understand before tests, and reviewing the tests afterwards (explaining questions that had been answered incorrectly, helping them to see where their working could be more rigorous and so on).
At times it seemed that they were memorising rules without understanding the reasoning behind them, and I think this was one of the main things that they gained from the tutoring. Maths is a very logical subject and I think that it can be easier than many others but because of the sequential nature of the learning it is essential for students to have a strong understanding of the basics before moving on to more advanced topics. With both of the students, I would always be trying to identify and fill gaps in their understanding as we went through topics.

I am a private French tutor since July 2014, teaching conversation, and VCE exams preparation, as well as providing Arabic conversation and basic language lessons. I also do online French, English and Arabic translation. I have a Certificate IV in Training and assessment (2015).
Before moving to Melbourne, I was working as a French lecturer at Ain Shams University, Egypt (May 2010- December 2013), teaching French language and translation as a second language. I have also been working as a freelancer translator for the past 9 years, as well as volunteering with charitable associations and participating in community service activities.
I hold a Master’s degree in French lexicography (2014), and a bachelor degree in French linguistics and translation from faculty of Languages (Al Alsun), Ain Shams University (2009). I went to French primary and secondary school (1993-2005).
My French language experience includes teaching, as well as translating texts from different fields such as: literary, financial, scientific, legal, general documents, in addition to translating a French novel (L’Oeuvre by Emile Zola), two scientific French books (L’Histoire des Sciences- L’Histoire de la folie) and a kids’ scientific magazine (J’explore le ciel et les étoiles).

My name is Catherine and I am a qualified primary school teacher. I completed my Graduate Diploma of Teaching in 2013. I also have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne with a major in history and literature.

Primarily I have tutored students completing VCE in English, Psychology and French. My last Psychology student received a 50 as her study score and all other students have made reasonable progress. I have also started tutoring English for primary school students and as an Ancient Studies major at University would be more than willing to tutor history.
I have been involved in theatre (both on and offstage) for over 10 years now, and it has taught me to enjoy human contact, clear communication skills and team work. Theatre, in addition to my education in the UK, US and France, has taught me self-confidence, organization and learning techniques, all of which I wish to transmit through tutoring.
What I like most about tutoring is witnessing the progress of students and their satisfaction in learning something new.
I graduated from high school in 2013 and through out my two years of VCE I joined a tutoring group at my school and I absolutely loved it. I really enjoy tutoring because I feel like it is a very rewarding career and I enjoy developing a relationship with my students.
