I am someone who is highly passionate about the power of education, and hence have worked and volunteered as a tutor on many occasions.
Over the past two years I have tutored high school students in VCE Latin and Classical Studies, assisting high achieving students score in the top 2% of their cohort and struggling students to recover their grades. I also am a private tutor in University Microeconomics.
In 2016 semester 1, I volunteered with ‘Get Ahead’ tutoring at the Prahran Housing Commission to tutor primary school students in English and Maths. In August 2016, I spent a week teaching English to middle school students at a summer school in rural Jiangsu province, facilitated by the organisation ‘Stepping Stones’. In both volunteering roles, my students did not have fluent English, so I am aware of the patience and enthusiasm necessary to improve literacy.

About Me
I became interested in tutoringby helping out at my old high school, where I volunteered as a tutor in Maths and English. Since then I’ve taught and tutored English language to refugees and university students here in Australia, and to all sorts overseas in Morocco.
I am a real book and history lover (my bachelor degree was in archaeology), but I also enjoy going hiking occasionally and the last few years I’ve been lucky enough to get to travel a lot.

I taught in both classrooms and tutoring in Morrocco for 11 months across 2015-16, before and after I also volunteered tutoring refugees at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) and at Preston Reservoir Adult Community Education (PRACE).
Most of these were in English or English Language although I also tutored students in Maths for Moroccan students looking to take the American SAC exams. I tutored all sorts of ages especially beteween 8 and 16 years.
My students showed steady though incremental improvements when i was working with them.

Hi there!
My name is James Dance and I graduated from Overnewton Anglican Community College in 2016 with an ATAR of 96.65. I am currently in my first year of a Bachelor of Commerce at The University of Melbourne, and have my eyes set on a career as an international lawyer.
I am able to tutor Years 11 and 12 Literature and History: Revolutions (American and Russian Revolutions). I received a Raw Study Score of 44 for both of these subjects. I have also tutored Year 12 English. As an added bonus, you get to hear my views on philosophy and politics…FOR FREE!
As a fresh VCE graduate, I am still quite connected to the VCE years, and can therefore provide a deep insight into its workings, as both a tutor and as a mentor.
I also tutor Prep to Year 10 English, mathematics and humanities, as well as selective-entry and NAPLAN preparation.
Success throughout school comes down to knowledge and enthusiasm. These are the two primary things I will be bringing to every tutoring session, in the hope that your own knowledge and enthusiasm expand beyond all boundaries.
